Games in the News Business

I watch the daily morning news every morning, including the news from the favorite channel. You know it. I don’t want to mention. And there was something up in my mind, when I heard about what I personally call “call-for-action game”, or the way the channel tries to pull its audience to join the news and vote which news is the most “heart-hit” in their opinion. I do not have any objection with having opinions. You may see this issue is just something ordinary in the news business where money from SMS sent by the audience could be one way to earn. Whatever a business reason, I do not agree that the news could be part of this kind of game especially news about someone’s terrible life. Voting and sharing opinion is great as one way to show the democracy in the country. However, the democracy is something you do not intrude someone’s right and space. The example I would give here is the “awfully in trend” F vs A (nothing related to F&N coffee brand, sorry). What is happening to our society? How come the news has become part of the game that arouses people’s prejudice? In my opinion, news reporter must play his or her role as a “news reporter” actually. You see, the word “reporter” gives the meaning! This theory should be applied to news channels as well. Nowadays, news business has been gone so far that the audience could no longer believe in any news they have heard as many reporters always add their opinions, feelings and even sarcastic words many times. The reporters, you are playing with the audience’s feelings.

News voting game, one way it raises questions. Another way it causes prejudice, unfairness and harms, emotionally, morally or psychologically the news victims. The reported, have you realized about this? Someone’s terrible life has become in the news title for many days. That’s poor enough. Don’t make it worse. The news voting game means nothing except a less and less meaningful life of the people in the news. To be the audience’s favorite news or not to be means anything? I don’t think so.
